The Holy Quran

The Qur’an

The Qur’an is the last holy book for Muslims. It has been revealed in stages to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) over 23 years.

Muslims consider the Quranic revelations to be God’s holy word, which was intended to correct any type of errors in previous holy books such as the Old and New Testaments.

Original

The Holy Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet in Arabic by God.

Some Quranic fragments date back to the eighth and possibly the seventh century. The earliest copy of the full text is from the ninth century.

Although there are early different forms of the Qur’an, Muslims believe that the text we have today is the Holy Prophet through Caliph Uthman. Established Quran text immediately after his death of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by Khalifa Usman.

Contents

The Quran has 114 chapters, written in the old and real Arabic dialect.

All the Holy Quran chapters except one begin with the sentence Bismillahir rahmanir raheem, In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. This is the basic thought with which all Muslims should start every work.

The longest chapter of the Qur’an is the pig chapter Baqarah (cow), which has 286 verses, and the shortest pig is K Al-Kuthar (plurality), which has 3 verses.

The arrangement of the Surahs is not by the date on which they were revealed.

The Qur’an is sometimes divided into 30 equal parts, known as parts. These chapter divisions make it easier for Muslims to recite the Qur’an during a month, and many will read a juz every day, especially during the month of Ramadan.

Translation

Translations of the Qur’an are available in more than fifty-two languages, but Muslims are still taught to learn and recite it in Arabic, even if it is not their mother tongue and they cannot speak it.

Instead of translating in the traditional sense, Muslims consider translation a new version of the Holy Book.

Memorizing the Quran

Books were not readily available at the time of the revelation of the Qur’an, so it was common for people to learn from it.

Memorization of the Qur’an has been a great help in protecting it, and whoever can fulfill it is known as Hafiz.

To respect

The Qur’an highly respects Muslims because it is God’s holy word.

While the Qur’an is recited aloud, Muslims should behave with devotion and refrain from speaking, eating, or making disturbing noises.
